After an acclaimed run off-Broadway at Manhattan Theater Club last summer, Heisenberg will transfer to the Great White Way. Directed by Mark Brokaw, the two-hander is set to once again star Tony winner Mary-Louise Parker and Denis Arndt. The new show from Simon Stephens, the Tony-winning playwright of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, is scheduled to begin performances on September 20 at MTC's Broadway venue, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Opening night is slated for October 13.
Parker received a Tony Award for her performance in Proof and was also nominated for Reckless and Prelude to a Kiss. She most recently appeared on Broadway in The Snow Geese. Her additional stage credits include Hedda Gabler and Bus Stop. Best known for her portrayal of Nancy Botwin on Showtime’s Weeds; she has also appeared on screen in RED, Fried Green Tomatoes, Angels in America (for which she won an Emmy) and The West Wing.
Arndt is most notorious for his roles in L.A. Law, Annie McGuire and Basic Instinct; he has also been seen on screen in Grey’s Anatomy, Past Life, Boston Legal, 24 and Providence. Stage credits include The Tempest, King Lear, Othello, Richard II and The Ballad of Soapy Smith.
Amidst the bustle of a crowded London train station, Clare (Parker) spots Alex (Arndt), a much older man, and plants a kiss on his neck. This electric encounter thrusts these two strangers into a life-changing game.
The production will feature scenic design by Mark Wendland, with costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Donald Holder and original music and sound design by David Van Tieghem.
